NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For single adults who have a wish list of desirable attributes for a mate, local author Mildred Townsend Walters says those lists are usually based on emotion and not intellect. Walters introduces her fifth book, While You’re Still Single (WYSS): The Biblical Guide to Selecting Your UltiMate, as a primer for singles who seek a logical, systematic approach to choosing a life partner.
With help from her husband James, Walters wrote WYSS over the past five years. She says that when they heard the divorce rate for Christians is the same as the rate for non-Christians, they were alarmed. With more than two and a half decades of marriage under their belts, they proclaim the problem with marriage begins long before the first date, and the issue is the way a marriage partner is selected.
“Even if someone has been married before, the odds for success will not improve with second and third marriages, unless the way a mate is selected changes,” Walters said. “This guide has just the change that is needed to get it right.”
WYSS employs the heart, mind, and soul, offering instructions based on biblical scriptures regarding the roles of husbands and wives in marriage. It includes assessments that will help the reader identify their qualities and those that they think will be necessary in a mate. WYSS also teaches the importance of sex and recognition of each person’s relationship with their families of origin.
WYSS is a trio of firsts for Walters: her first foray into non-fiction; her first book in five years; and her first self-published book. Previous books by Walters, published by BET/Harlequin Romance, were written under the pseudonym Christine Townsend. They are also on the web.
